GC Prep is the proprietary work of MasonByte LLC (CAGE 7BAJ0, UEI ZERAMJ6UEML9, Accokeek, MD). The site is built on top of the open-source software listed below — each governed by its own license. Original question text, explanations, layout, and code are © 2026 MasonByte LLC. All rights reserved.

Brief plain-language summary. The regulatory content our questions are based on (state statutes and agency rules) is public-domain government work — no one owns it. The way we wrote and arranged our questions, explanations, and study materials is original to MasonByte LLC and is not licensed for reuse. The libraries that make the site work are open-source under permissive licenses; their authors get the credits below.

1. Open-source libraries used to build the site

Each of these is loaded by your browser when you use GC Prep. Each is governed by its own license; clicking the source link gives you the upstream code and the full license text.

Build-only and test-only tools (Eleventy, Playwright, axe-core, eslint) are listed in our repository's NOTICE.md for completeness; they are never shipped to your browser.

2. Question content sources

Every question in the GC Prep platform is derived from publicly available state statutes, regulations, and agency board publications. Per Banks v. Manchester (1888) and Veeck v. SBCCI (5th Cir. 2002, en banc), government codes adopted into law are not copyrightable.

The question wording, distractor choices, "why this matters" explanations, ordering, and selection are original to MasonByte LLC and are © 2026 MasonByte LLC.

Per-state regulatory citations are catalogued in the repository at data/gcprep-sources.json. A web-friendly view of the sources catalogue is being prepared.

3. Trademarks

"GC Prep" and the gold-and-navy logo design are trade dress and trademarks of MasonByte LLC. State agency names referenced in our content (Maryland MHIC, Virginia DPOR, DC HIC, Pennsylvania Attorney General, etc.) are the marks of those agencies, used here in their nominative-fair-use sense to identify the licensing programs we help students prepare for. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any state licensing agency.

4. Reporting an attribution problem

If you believe a third-party component is missing from this list, has the wrong license noted, or has a license issue, please email contact@gcprep.app. We will respond within 5 business days.

5. License of this site's own content

All proprietary content on gcprep.app — including the question bank, explanations, study materials, original code, page layouts, and visual design — is governed by our proprietary license. Personal study by a paying or free-tier user is permitted. Republishing, mirroring, scraping, or training machine-learning models on our content is not permitted without prior written authorization.
